Location

The University is located in a prestigious area of Rome on the Janiculum, Rome's highest hill, just a few minutes walk from the historical center of the city. With its own garden of Roman pines, the campus is near the two ancient parks, Villa Sciarra and Villa Pamphili. Students benefit from living and learning in such a vibrant, beautiful, and historic neighborhood of Rome. This area is well connected to public transportation as well as the commuter train from Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci airport.

Accreditations

The American University of Rome is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), AUR is the oldest degree-granting American university in Rome and is licensed by the Department of Education of the State of Delaware to award associate and bachelor degrees.

The American University of Rome is registered as a legal entity with the Rome Tribunal and is authorized to operate in Italy by the Ministry of Universities and Scientific and Technological Research.

Facilities

The administrative offices, computer labs, classrooms and a student lounge are found in a five-story villa surrounded by a beautiful wireless garden area. The library is located in an adjacent villa and is equipped with a computer lab, multiple study rooms, a student lounge and a large outdoor wireless study area. The Carini building hosts faculty offices and a state-of-the-art Multimedia laboratory. The auditorium is equipped with a full range of multimedia technology.

Housing

Students may elect for AUR to arrange housing on their behalf or may chose to make their own housing arrangements. Apartments have a fixed phone line and are high speed wireless internet access equipped.

Activities

Field trips to Italian, European and Russian destinations. Winter session excursions to Ghana and Sicily. Departmental excursions to Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Montenegro, Kosovo, Sicily and other Italian regions. Interdisciplinary workshops and seminars. Many social and cultural activities. Sport teams include male and female soccer and intramural basketball. Various student clubs, interest groups and community service.

Financial Aid

The American University of Rome participates in the Title IV Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP), as well as the Post 9/11 and Yellow Ribbon US Veteran Benefits. Special Program Features

The academic internship program includes U.N. organizations, the Italian Parliament as well as internationally known corporations. On-site Art classes. Study abroad opportunities in China, Denmark, Ecuador, England, Greece, Spain and the US.
